for the people and the planet.

We don’t talk about sustainability because its fashionable. We talk about it because we mean business - a serious, clear and concrete commitment to putting mama earth first.

We are dedicated to ensuring quality, sustainable manufacturing processes, environmental consciousness and thoughtfully slow creation. We aim to slowly and carefully create our collections to be timeless, rather than conforming to fast multi-seasonal releases. Intentionality is behind all designing, hand making and curation of our pieces. All practices within Tyde are done with Papatūānuku (Mother Earth) and our people in mind, sourcing as locally and ethically as possible.

regenerative swimwear material

  • nylon waste rescue

Our swimwear fabric is a sustainable techno fabric and is essentially a super material - 100% regenerated nylon fabric derived from waste such as fishing nets, carpets and fabric remnants.

  • nylon waste is recycled

The recovered nylon waste is regenerated by Econyl through a depolymerisation process and returns to its original form. This allows for typically toxic polyurethane fabrics such as spandex and nylons (purely derived from plastic) to be created through a recycling system.

  • regenerated nylon yarn

The regenerated nylon is then transformed into textile yarn, woven into our swimwear fabric and printed with our beautiful prints to be repurposed, loved and worn. It’s innovative construction is twice as resistant to chlorine, sunscreen oils and is a UV protectant while being super soft and gentle on the skin.

current model - linear

We refuse to conform to the norm - the mindless and fast consumption of fashion products that have been made without the planet in mind, and are typically short lived.

refined model - circular

Tyde commits to closing the loop on fashion and textiles by using only natural or recycled fibres to bring you products to be worn over and over again.

When products aren’t handmade by Hayley herself, significant effort is made to ensure that people and the planet are consistantly prioritised in creation processes.

We have taken the time to create a relationship with the team who make our pieces, over the months of product ideation, development, prototyping and manufacturing. Being in contact with our makers almost everyday has made this design experience incredible. We are proud to know that our factory and team maintain equally high standards of ethics and environmental responsibility as we do here at Tyde.

Below you will see some of the team in our factory who we have collaborated with to physically bring Hayley’s vision to life. It isn’t often that you get to see the faces of the makers of your clothing, however, we think this recognition and transparency is incredibly important.
